1930 - Beginning in September 1930, the former third floor stage in Bentley Hall "became the studio for the first Allegheny radio broadcasts." With a need to raise publicity for the school, "money was invested in supporting a student radio broadcast as a way of reaching alumni. The first program aired September 1930 over station WLBW in Oil city. Broadcasts were discontinued after a year or so, as they cost too much while informing listeners in too limited an area." The Bentley hall studio later became an office for the Campus newspaper. - Quotes and photo from Through All The Years - A History of Allegheny College by Jonathan Helmreich
